The Louis Vuitton Foundation has been designed by architect Frank Gehry, a place dedicated to art. Thirteen years has passed by since the conception of the Louis Vuitton Foundation to its inauguration: in 2001 Bernard Arnault, president and general manager of the LVMH group, Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, met the architect Frank Gehry and gave birth of the idea to create the Louis Vuitton Foundation.

Five years later,  October 2006, the Foundation was founded. In December of the same year the Foundation signed an agreement with the city of Paris for the occupation of the public land and for the construction of a building dedicated to art. In August 2007, the building permit was granted and in March 2008 the construction site had opened and ended on December 18, 2013 with the laying of the last stone. On October 20, 2014 the Louis Vuitton Foundation was officially inaugurated under the patronage of the President of the French Republic, François Hollande.
